Team With No Equal” (front page, July 8):Twenty years ago I was alone in my apartment crying unabashedly after Brandi Chastain’s winning penalty kick. This soccer team is composed of skilled, hardworking, smart, talented, outspoken athletes. They have devoted fans, they represent the best of this country and they deserve equal pay for their work on our behalf. Shame on the United States Soccer Federation and FIFA for continuing to undervalue these athletes. Women deserve better, and as a woman and the mother of two soccer-playing teenagers, I feel that it is long past time to acknowledge the injustice and fix it.
